Proposals and Love in Paris

Say I love you in Cinderella's carriage - Porpose in ParisWhether anyone has ever said it before or not, I declare that, “Paris is the most romantic city in the world!”

June is, traditionally, a popular month for weddings. In Paris, the International Paris Bridal Fashion Trade Fair is a two-day event at the Port de Versailles. The fair takes place annually in June.

Before you get to the wedding part, how about that proposal?

Have you ever thought about proposing or being proposed to? Have you ever wanted to send a special message to someone while in Paris in an extravagant way? Nicolas Garreau is the expert since 2006 with thirty romantic scenarios at ApoteoSurprise.

Nicolas approached me in 2007 about his company, ApoteoSurprise. I thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice to have someone help you design a wonderful message for someone you love? Wouldn’t it be nice to have something special done for someone who you want to marry? Wouldn’t it be nice to have an expert help you with your plans?”

Say I love you with a fireworks display - Propose in Paris

ApoteoSurprise’s best seller for VIPs, he says, is the romantic and magic scenario “Say I love you while showered by 1000 roses”. “Between 7:00 pm and 7:30 p.m., after a phone call from your chauffeur, you will be picked up from your hotel/accommodation by a luxury 1951 Bentley Mk VI….” read more about being showered by the roses.

Thirty percent of Nicolas’ clients prefer the Limousine surprise with the personalized message displayed on a giant light board.

I was curious about the name “ApoteoSurprise“, which is the official name of his French Web site (The English site is called Propose in Paris). Nicolas explained, that “Apoteo is short for ‘apotheosis’, it is almost the same in any language. Apotheosis + Surprise = ApoteoSurprise… So that everyone, in the World, can understand that I am creating amazing surprises…”

Be it under the Eiffel tower, with a dove, in a hot-air balloon, on the wings of an airplane, while showered by 1000 roses, in a limousine, or with a fireworks display, you are about to give “your beloved the surprise of her/his life!…”

“Aahhhh! Quelle romance!”, I sighed.

This Web site and and its blog articles are for travelers to Paris who are looking for advice from someone who lives in Paris. These tips are "for Parisians at heart". Many people would like to visit, some can and some cannot - so I will help you enjoy a glimpse of the city and its surroundings. This project has been ongoing since 2002. Prior to living in Paris (since 1992) my European history began in the early 70s with three years in Wiesbaden, Germany. My next foray onto the Continent was in the mid-80s after graduation from the University of Florida (where I met Erik): traveling around Europe and UK with my friend, Margie, hitchhiking around and working in Ireland. After living and working as a journalist in Sweden for four years, traveling on boats, the Trans-Siberian Railway, local trains and planes took Erik and I around the world. I began working as a flight attendant in 1990 for American Airlines, based in Chicago. We moved to Paris, France in 1992 where I commuted between Paris and Chicago for my flight attendant/stewardess job. Finally my inner voice said "Stop!" and I left American Airlines six weeks shy of 20 years January 1, 2010. Now that is over and I am back working as a journalist and photographer full time on Colleensparis.com - My videos are posted on YouTube on the colleensparis youtube channel. and I am active in Toastmasters 75. Enjoy!
